Loughton is a town and civil parish in the Epping Forest district of Essex.

It is located North East of Charing Cross in London, south of the M25 and has boundaries with Chingford, Waltham Abbey, Theydon Bois, Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill. Loughton includes three conservation areas. In 2002 Loughton featured in the ITV1 programme Essex Wives, a documentary series about the lives of some of the nouveau riche who have resided in the Essex towns of London since the 1980s. This is the TV series which helped Jodie Marsh's rise to fame. Loughton is amoungst three towns described by jouralists as the “Golden Triangle” - the three towns include Loughton, Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell. These towns are homes to many footb allers, soap-opera actora and TV celebrities. Loughton has also been used as a backdrop in other TV series – most recently The Only Way Is Essex – and 2 shops on the High Road are actually owned by members of the cast.
