Mrsbrazzer's Guide to Burnley, Lancashire
parent bloggers in Burnley, Lancashire
A market town in the heart of East Lancashire, Burnley is ideally located for exploring the North West’s major cities or the countryside. Burnley is a short drive from Preston, Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool and also close to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Pennines and Trough of Bowland.

Burnley hosts a two-day International Rock and Blues Festival every year. Popular locations in Burnley include Towneley Park, which houses Towneley Hall Art Gallery and Museum, and Thompson Park which has a boating lake and miniature railway. The town’s historic Queen Street Mill Textile Museum was used as a filming location for film ‘The King’s Speech’. Burnley is home to a newly promoted Premiership football team and was the birthplace of Sir Ian McKellan, England cricketer James Anderson and Olympic cyclist Steven Burke. Burnley was one of Lancashire’s most prominent mill towns during the Industrial Revolution and has retained a strong manufacturing sector today. In 2013, Burnley was officially named the ‘Most Enterprising Area in the UK’ by the Government Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. This award recognised and celebrated the range of business, enterprise and economic development work that has gone into reshaping Burnley’s reputation in recent years.

I'm Claire, mum to Sam who has just turned two and married to Liam. We live in Pendle and love it because it is close to the countryside and our families. Sam is an adventurous 2 year old whose biggest love at the minute is trains!

A day out at Media City in Salford - by Mrsbrazzer - October 10 (2) mini4.jpg
From Rastamouse to Crackerjack, the CBeebies weekend at Media City offered something for three generations of the family, and provided lots of laughs and entertainment. We combined a visit to the CBeebies Peter Pan event with a look around the Here’s One We Made Earlier exhibition…and even managed to watch a sports report being presented live on the BBC.

Having fun without creating a mess can be a bit of a challenge with a toddler. Wax crayons and paint can quickly become a real headache to clean up. Toddlers don't really need multi-coloured paints anyway when they first start out. Roll up the Aqua Splash!
